FORGED Together: Mountain Bike
This spring, athletes from Mission43 and Challenged Athletes Foundation-Idaho came together for the first FORGED Together: Mountain Bike Cohort. This 7-week, strength and trail riding program was designed to build not only technical skills but also confidence, camaraderie, and resilience within the cohort members.
FORGED Together programming offers cohort-based training tailored to sports unique to Idaho. This Mountain Bike Cohort was designed for those ready to take on new terrain, whether returning to the sport or trying mountain biking for the first time.
Athletes trained together in a small-group environment, supporting one another as they learned cornering drills, bike handling, hill climbing, and strength work to prepare them for trail rides across the Treasure Valley. Each week built on the last, progressively challenging athletes in both physical ability and confidence.
“Training both Mission43 and Challenged Athletes Foundation together creates an inclusive environment for people of different experience levels to come together and push each other to reach their goals. ”
Built for Idaho. Ready for the Trail.
The final week of the program included a timed trail ride, replicating a benchmark course the athletes first rode at the start of the cohort. Every participant improved their time, a clear reflection of the strength, skill, and confidence they had gained over the seven weeks.
The most meaningful finish line came when the cohort members joined CAF-Idaho as support riders during their Mountain Bike Clinic. Regardless of their starting point, whether seasoned riders or brand new to the sport, each athlete left the program feeling capable, connected, and ready to give back to the CAF-Idaho community.
